We believe it is important to have a consistent, progressive approach to the teaching of Health and Wellbeing across the school. To support this, we have planners in place that ensure learning is delivered in a structured and coherent way from year to year.
We have recently invested in Decider Skills training using our Pupil Equity Funding. We introduce the 12 Decider Skills at assembly each week and share the skills on our Whole School Just 2 Journal page for families. The Decider Life Skills are proactive mental health tools designed to help people become more resilient, resourceful, responsible, robust and respectful. They focus on strengthening emotional intelligence and building healthier thinking habits, giving individuals practical ways to monitor and manage their mental wellbeing.
Grounded in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), the Life Skills consist of 12 evidence‑based techniques. They’re taught in a fun, creative and interactive way, making them accessible for both groups and individuals. The aim is to empower people with skills they can use in everyday life—especially during moments of stress, uncertainty, or emotional overwhelm.
We also use the Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood resource.
